the vineyard.  You can hear Kris talk about the rewards of growing and maintaining 6 acres of grapes or chat with Harold about being a part of the centuries-old tradition
of wine making.  The winery offers a beautiful setting to enjoy tasting & picnicking.

vineyard is on the left, 9 miles north of the intersection

The impressive variety of plants the Allans grow here includes: tomatoes, pears, apples, peaches, figs, potatoes, persimmons, eggplant, beans, squash, onions and peppers to name a few. Several patches of cheerful flowers, spread throughout the garden, attract various pollinators, such as butterflies and hummingbirds, along with a host of other birds and insects.

In the midst of it all stands a grand pomegranate tree, laden with green fruits yet to ripen. Above this goliath, towers an old windmill. Its wooden body and tin blades add a rustic charm to the garden.

Directions: From Mariposa, take Highway 49 South 2 miles to the fairgrounds. Turn left on Fairgrounds Rd. Stay to the right up the hill to the 3rd house on the right.

Learn from Dave & Sandy the success stories and pitfalls of gardening in the Sierra Foothills. The 12-acre farm has pastures and barns for sheep, goats and chickens and a one acre seasonal pond. Currently, the farm is focused on one acre of summer vegetables, flowers and herb gardening. Their latest success is a greenhouse with raised beds and automatic drip irrigation. Learn about their solar-powered well.

Directions: From Mariposa, take Hwy 49 South for 2 miles. Across from the fairgrounds, turn right on Ben Hur Rd. Drive 4 miles to the sign showing Ben Hur turns left. Follow sign and drive 1/4 mile to the farm on the right.

Come meet the Loofa Lady and see how loofa sponges grow. Linda welcomes you to see how all-natural loofa sponges grow and how they are processed. Tour the greenhouses and gardens for an educational look at how things grow in the Foothills. Browse her line of quality loofas, hand creams and glycerin soaps made there at "The Farm".

Directions: From Mariposa, take Highway 49 South for about 7 miles. Turn right on Hirsch Rd and go 1 mile. Turn left on Bull Pine Lane. Follow dirt road to the cul-de-sac. Park on the right. Walk up pathway on the right to greenhouses.

Brenda, who is the queen of heirloom tomatoes in these parts, has two high tunnel greenhouses filled with over 500 heirloom tomato plants located on 5 acres at 3,000 feet elevation.

The high tunnels make it possible to grow at this elevation where the temperatures are cooler, especially at night. Learn about the fabulous soil in the greenhouse which makes the tomatoes taste so amazing.

Directions: From Mariposa, take Highway 49 South to Darrah Rd. Turn left on Darrah Rd. Turn right on Triangle Rd., turn right on the 2nd Meadow Lane just past the Lushmeadows store. Go a short way to driveway on left.
